Torso by Maddie Maycock

A queer love story between a body and the self through fragments of words, poems and just fucking DANCING. In this era of AI, creative consumerism and isolation we ask you to touch the skin of the earth, slow down and re-establish a curious body. The performance Torso is a queer love story between a body and the self. This live art performance converses with the body and its soul, delivering a tender insight into non-binary experience, expression, and the beauty in existing where the lines overlap. Fragments of words and poems that are gifted to and from the sky, sound that buzzes, beats and beams. All of this blending with dance, trying to dance and liberating yourself through just fucking DANCING. A body learns to love. Join us in revelling in and reconnecting with our living, breathing, fluid bodies through drawing, writing, or simply witnessing. A few things to know before you arrive Our toilets are for everyone. Rogue Artist Studios doesn’t have central heating, so we’ll provide blankets and electric heaters to help keep you cosy. We recommend bringing a hot water bottle and plenty of warm layers, too. We’ll provide chairs, floor cushions if you fancy lying down, and some basic drawing/writing materials. Free car parking is available. We’re sorry that there are no lifts to the floors we’re using in this building. We recognise that this means the space isn’t accessible to everyone, and we’re committed to working towards future events in more accessible spaces. If you have any access needs or questions before attending, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
