Hernan Diaz: PLY

Pulitzer Prize winner Hernan Diaz joins us in Newcastle to celebrate the release of his new novel, PLY. Following a punk music-loving orphan, adrift in a futuristic but dangerous American city, PLY is a gripping, poignant and entirely original look at the role of technology in a deeply changed society at the dawn of a new historical era. Hernan Diaz is the Sunday Times bestselling author of Trust, which won the Pulitzer Prize and was longlisted for the Booker Prize. It was named one of The New York Times’s 100 Best Books of the Century. He has received the John Updike Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Kirkus Award and a Whiting Award. His work has been translated into thirty-seven languages. PLY is his third novel. Chaired by Will Mackie, New Writing North. Book sales by Waterstones Newcastle. This event is part of Right to Read, our programme across the North East in 2026 to celebrate the National Year of Reading.
