Why attend? The Renters Rights Act 2025 came into force on 1 May 2026, transforming England’s private rented sector. Changes will come in for the social housing sector in October 2027. From abolishing Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions to limiting annual rent increases, there were several important changes that have affected landlords and tenants in different ways. This face-to-face session at Muckle LLP, Newcastle, will provide an expert-led overview of the Act as well as practical tips on the new legislation. We’ll delve into the Act’s changes, and how they have been received, as well as the key responsibilities of landlords and letting agents. We’ll also invite you to share your thoughts on the Act in an interactive Q&A session with our experts. In this session, we will cover: • A background and overview of the Act, and which tenancies it applies to • Changes to grounds for possession and notice periods • The mechanism for increasing rent • Provisions in the RRA to prevent discrimination and rent bidding • Property condition - changes requiring compliance with the Decent Homes Standard and Awaab’s Law • Landlord’s Redress Scheme and the Landlord’s database • Offences and enforcement • Hints and Tips and reflections on practical experiences of the Act • Interactive Q&A Timings This in-person session will start at 9.00 with a light breakfast, session commencing at 09.30 – 11.30 Who should attend? This training session is aimed towards anyone within the housing sector dealing with residential property, including social housing providers, local authorities, landlords and agents.
