Join us on our annual social gravel ride, including tea, coffee and cakes before and a nice mug of warm soup and a bread roll when you get back! This year we are teaming up with one of the best groups going, Ben the main man behind Gravel Crushers North East is preparing an epic ride for us (No doubt muddy!) - GNCE Facegroup group which has grown to be one of the best communitie groups in the North East with over 2.4k members. If you are not a member here's the link -https://www.facebook.com/groups/383734545865175/ Join us at Alpkit Metrocentre on December 20th, 10am for a self-supported gravel bike ride on one of our favourite gravel routes in the area. Suitable for riders of all abilities. During the winter months, even the most hardy and adventurous off-road riders can sometimes need a little extra encouragement to get out and pedal. We've got you covered with our Sonder Winter Gravel Series. The ride will start from Alpkit Metrocentre and will be a self-supported ride leaving the store at 10am, lasting roughly 2-4 hours depending on your speed. A GPX file of the route will be sent out to all participants who have confirmed their booking through Eventbrite, prior to the event. The route can be completed at your own pace. Come and have a go whatever your ability. Please come equipped with everything you would bring on a solo ride (including a helmet) and be aware that being self-supported means you are your own mechanic for this ride, so, although we all hope it won't happen, be prepared to fix a puncture by the side of the trail or handle anything else that may occur en route! The weather can be changeable at this time of year, so please dress accordingly to ensure you stay warm and comfortable for the duration of the event. We also recommend bringing a spare set of clothes for travelling home as you may get wet and muddy. Back at Alpkit there will be cakes and weather-specific refreshments (the soup always goes down well!) and plenty of time to chat bikes, routes and all things adventure with staff and fellow riders. Tickets are £10 and as always the entry cost go straight to charity - The Alpkit foundation provides small awards that support grass roots, direct action projects and passionate game changers where a positive difference can be made to remove the barriers in getting outdoors and experience the benefits of time spent outdoors. More details on the foundation here - https://alpkit.com/pages/foundation We have free demo bikes avaliable, these need booking in with the store directly at least 10 days before the event. Limited avalibility so book quickly, just pop in-store or drop us an email! See you there!
