MKIAC Interfaith Community Iftar - A Home for Humanity

As we celebrate Milton Keynes's sixtieth birthday year, we come together to reflect on Ramadan and the communities that call MK home. Ramadan is the month of hospitality and sharing. Interfaith Community Iftar, is a night of community building and breaking bread together. Last year, “From Homeland to Sanctuary” invited us to reflect on the journeys of our prophets, who experienced displacement and sought safety among new communities. This year, “A Home for Humanity” asks what those journeys require of us today. MKIAC advocate for more openness and acceptance of people of different faiths and those who express their spiritual life in many diverse ways. Muslims and non-Muslims, people of no faith and all faiths, are welcome to share a moment of community building around delicious food, inspiring Nasheeds, and speeches. Ramadan is a time for being kinder and more compassionate to others. The focus is not only on abstaining from food and drinks and allowing more prayer in the daily routine but also on reflecting on the beauty, truth and love surrounding us. Thank you to all communities, special guests, organisations, and performers, for coming together to break our fast, celebrating the diversity of our home, Milton Keynes.
