Hope in Action: Postcard Project

About this event

Join in creating a living archive of hope and action through postcard messages for past and future friends of community psychology. Community Psychology is a branch of psychology about understanding and addressing the social, cultural and economic factors that impact mental health and wellbeing. Collectivity, collaboration and community are key, with social justice the direction of travel. This gathering invites you to create postcards with messages of gratitide for past friends of community psychology whose shoulders we stand on today, and messages of hope and solidarity for future friends of communtiy psychology. Each postcard becomes a small act of intention, expressing commitment to collective wellbeing, justice, and community healing. Drawing on the understanding that hope is something we practice rather than passively feel, this gathering offers space for reflection, dialogue, and shared meaning‑making. We will explore what nourishes our sense of hope, how we stay connected to others in the face of challenges, and what strengthens solidarity across generations and movements. Together, we will honour both the difficulties and the possibilities inherent in community psychology and social justice work. The postcards created will be added to a growing collection of postcards to past and future friends of community psychology to be shared as part of an art exhibition at the 10th Community Psychology Festival (https://www.bps.org.uk/event/10th-community-psychology-festival). They serve as messages to those who come after us, reminders that they are part of a long, interconnected lineage of people working to transform systems and cultivate compassionate action.
