The Secret Life Of Trees In Winter

An engaging and practical talk that will transform the way you look at trees when everyone else thinks there's nothing to see. When the leaves have fallen and the flowers are long gone, most trees look frustratingly similar... or do they? Join us for an intriguing short talk on the hidden clues that reveal a tree's identity throughout the winter months. Discover how buds, bark, twigs, scars and shape can tell a story every bit as clearly as leaves and flowers. Why does it matter? Winter is often the best time to assess, manage and appreciate our trees. Whether you're planning a garden, studying local wildlife, or simply enjoying a countryside walk, the ability to recognise trees all year round opens up a fascinating new way of seeing the landscape. Once you learn the secrets, you'll never walk past a "bare tree" again. This talk will be led by our horticultural expert Dawn and is part of our free Gardening Club Series.
