Well, this season we have something similar, but our speakers will share resources and opportunities: editing tips with Editor John Ingamells, who will describe the various types of editing and how they apply at different stages of the writing process. He will explain how editors and proofreaders work with authors to ensure the best outcome for a project. He will outline what they can do – and what they can’t. He will also discuss how writers can find editors who suit them and their working style. Andrew Hook will speak about genres and writing for Tangerine magazine, which he co-edits. He is a prolific writer and his work includes over 200 short stories, 13 collections, and 7 novels. Steve Keyworth, director and writer for television, film and radio, will talk to us about the Writers' Guild and the events they run in the region, including a writers' industry event at the Theatre Royal in the spring and a submission opportunity. Drama Director Ben Nash will talk about Getting Your Writing Off the Page into the Rehearsal Room and Onto the Stage. Drawing on his experience of adaptation, devising and developing new work, he’ll share some of the open creative process behind Embers and introduce a creative experiment for writers to try before his December workshop.
