About this event
On Tuesday 1 December, Dr Ursula Ackrill leads a tour of the Weston Gallery followed by a workshop at DH Lawrence Pavilion. Using facsimiles of 17th and 18th century Early Modern books, she guides participants through decoding engravings of classical mythology and religious history.

Tuesday 1 December, 10am-12noon Meeting Room One, DH Lawrence Pavilion £4.50 (free concessions) The title pages and frontispieces of books from the 17th and 18th century contain the most intricate engravings from classical mythology and religious history. In this session, Special Collections Librarian Dr Ursula Ackrill will use facsimiles from Early Modern books held at Manuscripts and Special Collections to guide you through decoding the mysterious language of these images. The workshop will be preceded by a short tour of the Weston Gallery.
