Courbet & Cézanne: Still Life talk by Jeffery Courtney

Jeffery Courtney compares and contrasts the two painters Courbet & Cézanne with an emphasis on their still life works Two giants of French painting will battle it out over a bowl of fruit. Courbet the realist and Cézanne - well, he’s just Cézanne. Both masters of still life, particularly fruit. Both innovators in the genre. Both astounded the art world. Jeffery will compare their approach in technique and also their different aims - why they painted as they did. He will contrast their styles, and their different approaches to form and space. They are as different as their two portraits.
