Course Objectives Participants will: • Understand the principles and values of restorative practice and the philosophy and mindset that underpin the approach. • Understand how restorative practice differs from other ways of addressing harm and conflict. • Understand the restorative language and themes that underpin restorative processes. • Learn and practise the skills needed to have a restorative conversation with another person. • Learn and practise the skills needed to facilitate informal and formal restorative meetings, including the importance of risk assessment, follow-up and review. • Explore a range of restorative processes and how these can be adapted for use within their own work context. • Share knowledge and expertise. • Learning resources will be provided on the day, as well as access to follow-up materials to support continued professional development. About Restorative Practice Restorative practice is a term used to describe behaviours, interactions and approaches which help to build and maintain positive, healthy relationships, resolve difficulties and repair harm where there has been conflict. When we work with and alongside people, there is strong evidence that outcomes for participants are improved.
