Introduction to Creative Writing: 6-Week Evening Course

Explore different forms of creative writing and learn the foundations of storytelling through six friendly and practical evening sessions in Introduction to Creative Writing: 6-Week Evening Course Have you ever had a story idea you wished you could turn into a book? Perhaps you’ve watched a film, read a novel or discovered a poem and wondered what it would feel like to create something of your own. This relaxed six-week course is designed for complete beginners who want to explore creative writing in a friendly and supportive environment. Across the course, you’ll experiment with different forms of writing, including short stories, novels, poetry and scripts. Through practical exercises, discussion and guided writing time, you’ll begin learning the essential techniques writers use to bring their ideas to life. Topics will include: • Finding and developing story ideas • Creating memorable characters • Building engaging plots • Developing believable settings and worlds • Exploring genre, style and different forms of writing • Growing confidence in your own creative voice There is no pressure to share your work unless you want to. The focus is on creativity, exploration and building confidence, and no previous writing experience is required. The course is held at Elburton Methodist Church in Plymouth, with a small group of no more than 15 participants.
