Full description from organizer

This photo-walk will provide opportunities to explore and capture the stunning Fernworthy Reservoir and mysterious Stone Circle! Walking With Cameras around Fernworthy Reservoir & Stone Circle Join us on Tuesday 29th September for a photowalk around Fernworthy Reservoir and its Bronze Age stone circle, set within Fernworthy Forest on the eastern edge of Dartmoor near Chagford. Fernworthy Stone Circle sits against the backdrop of some of Dartmoor's highest peaks, in a beautiful forest spot amid around 1,400 acres of woodland. The circle itself is a fine Bronze Age ring of 27 granite slabs and blocks, standing in a forest clearing about half a mile from the reservoir. The reservoir itself was completed in 1942 and can hold up to 380 million gallons of water, and the area is home to a rich variety of wildlife. Together, the woodland, water and ancient stones make for a wonderfully atmospheric setting — one that blends landscape, heritage and quiet reflection. This Photo-walk will take place on Thursday 15th Octoberand it will begin at 11:00am with limited minibus transport from Exeter. A pair of tiny stones mark a southern entrance (towards the foreground centre in the photograph above). These are flanked by larger stones, the tallest being about 1.1 metres tall, with the stones decreasing in size as they curve round to the north forming a ring of about 20 metres in diameter that is slightly flattened to the east and west.
