Coastal Rangers - Intro to Citizen Science Methodology - Scarborough

Citizen Science survey sessions for registered Coastal Rangers only (16+) These sessions are for registered Coastal Rangers, who are supporting YMNP, YWT and the REConnect project to survey the North Yorkshire Coast. We will be introducing you to scientific techniques that will enable you to accurately survey the coastal enhancements, which have been installed along the Yorkshire Coast to boost biodiversity where man-made sea defences are present. This session will focus on adopting specific methods developed by the University of Hull to survey the mussel boxes that have been installed at Scarborough North Bay - which can then be applied at various other enhancements along the coast, that feed into the wider Concrete Coasts project. All equipment and resources are provided - but please bring wellies or walking boots (plus a camera and torch) for exploring the enhancements. This training forms part of a larger PhD study and particpants will therefore be asked to complete an anonymous survey before and after the workshop.
