Design + Screen Print a Small Book

Come and join me at my Nunburnholme Print Studio for a Screen Printing workshop with a particular focus on making a book from your prints. Learn about imposition (arranging your artwork strategically to create the sequence of a book) and some basic book making skills. Then transfer these in to your designing and printing to print your very own book. The Course Design and print your own small 1 or 2 book through the medium of screen printing. You’ll learn about mixing inks and how to print and register layers. Who Is The Course Suitable For? Whether you're a seasoned designer or just looking to try something new, this event is perfect for all skill levels. What you'll be doing Screen printing is the process whereby ink is pushed through a fine silk mesh stretched over a screen. A squeegee is used to push the ink through the 'open' areas of the screen depositing an even layer of ink on to the fabric or paper below. Many colours/layers and multiple copies can be printed. In this workshop Alison will use her 20 plus years of experience to guide you through creating your own design and trasferring these ideas and prints in to a small book. A great workshop for a creative wanting to expand their skills, complete novice or a small group of friends or family. Approx 5 hrs including a light lunch. The workshop will involve: • Introduction to screen printing and how it works • A look at considerations for your print. • Discussing books and different methods of construction • Design and produce artwork ready to print • Choosing or mixing your colours and how to do this • How to prepare the screen and planning the book • Print demonstration • How to print and register multiple layers • Book construction There will be unlimited tea and coffee, a snack and light lunch provided .
