Full description from organizer

Join us on a joyful, empowering, honest evening focusing on our bodies, wellbeing, hormones, identity, relationships and more Perimenopause + Menopause Club Date & Time: October 29, 2026 at 6:30 PM (BST) Venue: Merchants Court Join us for a relaxed and inspiring evening starting with a dance class taste session led by Angelina, focused on feminine expression. Then, Dr. Janet Chelliah will share an informative presentation explaining everything you want to know about perimenopause and menopause. Ateendees can ask her questions as well as share with the group their own experiences if they like. We'll finish off with a calming mindfulness experience guided by Helen Todd. There will be snacks and a safe, welcoming space for everyone. Drinks will be available to be purchased at the PAD12 bar. Our facilitators Angelina Abel is the Angolan-born, Portugal-raised choreographer and artistic director behind Mulembas d’Africa, a Sheffield-based African movement dance classes that offers weekly classes, and cross-cultural workshops. She is also the creator/founder of MAMAWE Afro-Pean dance festival. Her work draws on Angolan Bantu spiritual movement traditions and prioritises the primal power of movement for personal growth and community bonding. As a choreographer, Angelina believes in the power of dance as a healing tool, as a point of unity, and on its use to promote social cohesion. Angelina brings to you dance expression based on her Angolan heritage where ancestral spirituality guides through each movement. ----- Dr. Janet Chelliah is a GP with over 30 years experience as a doctor in the NHS. She obtained her medical degree in Australia. In 1999, she became a member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which initiated her interest in Women's Health. She has been trained in providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy , by the British Menopause Society. CBT is the only non medical treatment approved by NICE Guidance to help , hot flushes and some other perimenopausal/menopausal symptoms. Dr Janet Chelliah says, ‘ I am a woman in her 50s walking through menopause while caring for a disabled daughter and supporting another. This time of life has been deeply personal and profoundly transformative. Especially since it was a time coping with cancer in the family, too.’ For decades, she supported women through every stage of life, from adolescence to menopause. But living it herself-while balancing caregiving, work, and self-care; has given her a new perspective on what true well-being means. It’s taught her that knowledge alone isn't enough; what women need is empathy, clarity, and community. ------ Helen Todd will guide us on a relaxing mindfulness activity. She is a freelancer facilitator and consultant who loves working with groups to think together creatively and develop ways forward on knotty challenges. More recently, a desire to spend more time in nature led her to train as a practitioner of Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing/ mindfulness in nature). She holds a Forest Therapy Guide Diploma from Nature and Therapy. Learning ways to connect mindfully with nature has been super useful for her as quite a hectically brained person, and she really enjoy offering this to others.
