Seedlings Birds Workshop

Perfect for children aged 4–11, this hands-on session invites young artists to explore colour, texture, and shape as they design and create their very own unique birds. Using vibrant oil pastels and playful collage techniques, each child will bring their feathered friend to life in their own special way. Younger children will be gently supported with templates to help them get started, while older children will have the freedom to draw, design, and imagine their own original bird creations. Will their bird perch proudly on a branch, or soar freely through the sky? Each creation can be displayed on a little perch or made to hang and “fly” at home—ready to brighten any space! This relaxed and supportive workshop encourages creativity, confidence, and self-expression, with plenty of guidance along the way. No experience needed—just imagination! This workshop is one of three Seedlings workshops taking place at Haarlem Artspace. Artwork made during the workshops will come together to form a special Seedlings exhibition at the gallery, 27 November – 6 December, giving young artists the chance to see their work exhibited in a real gallery. Spaces are limited, so book early to avoid missing out. 10:00am–11:30am £12 per child (plus booking fee) All materials are provided. If your child has a SEEDLINGS sketchbook from a previous session, they’re welcome to bring it along too. Led by experienced art educator Katy, SEEDLINGS encourages curiosity, confidence, self-expression and creative exploration. There’s no pressure to make a perfect finished artwork—just space to experiment, make a mess and enjoy the process. Parents and carers are asked to stay throughout the session and support their child where needed. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for art-making.
