Sanctuary & Soil: A Black Women's Garden Gathering at The Abeng Garden

Join us for Seeds and Cycles, a Black History Month celebration. Sanctuary & Soil is a space created specifically for Black women. Each session includes hands-on gardening activities, a short teaching on a herb or health condition, and unstructured time to simply breathe and enjoy being in a green space. Whether you're curious about plant medicine, want to connect with other Black women, or just need somewhere to decompress, this space is for you. Gardening activities for this session include seed sowing winter vegetables and planting spring-flowering bulbs. For the herbal knowledge share, we’ll be looking at practical ways to support women’s health and the menstrual cycle. Tickets - PLEASE READ: Our sessions are oversubscribed and people have missed out on joining due to no-shows and lack of communication. Therefore we're introducing a refundable deposit. This will be refunded automatically if you attend. The deposit is non-refundable if you do not attend the session. We understand that life happens, but please be mindful of whether you can commit to attending before booking. What to bring: Please wear weather appropriate clothing you don't mind getting muddy and sturdy footwear. Bring a bottle of water, a cup or mug for tea, and gardening gloves if you have them. Tools are provided. Who are we? The Abeng Garden is a Black women-led space dedicated to addressing health inequities through gardening, food growing, herbal medicine, and holistic health education. Accessibility: There is a toilet onsite. We are working towards making the garden wheelchair accessible, and also working on accessibility for children. If you have any other access needs, please get in touch - [email protected]. Parking: Parking on Delaraine Street is free on Saturdays and is on a first come first serve basis.
