The Sitdown presents: The Black Joy Experience 2026

An encouraging The Black Community to intentionally press PAUSE,celebrate how far we’ve come and tap back into the things bring us joy. This October’s Black History Month theme is: ‘Honouring Our Communities’ - honouring the resilience and cultural strength of Black communities. The Black Joy Experience is built on that same ideal, offering a unique, curated experience encouraging us to intentionally press PAUSE, celebrate how far we’ve come and tap back into the things which bring us joy. WHAT IS BLACK JOY? Black Joy is a way of restoring the mind, body, and spirit in the face of the often traumatic realities many Black and mixed heritage people experience. It is not a monolith, it presents itself in many forms and expressions. WHO IS THIS FOR? For Black History Month, The Black Joy Experience is a celebration of Black culture in all its form African, Caribbean, and mixed-heritage. This space is created for us to gather, laugh, and share joy unapologetically. -The Sitdown Team WHAT IS THE SITDOWN?
