The St Andrews Madrigal Group presents... Modern Voices: Reimagining the Past Composers have long wrestled with a central creative dilemma: how to balance inspiration from the past with the desire to create something new. Join the St Andrews Madrigal Group for our opening concert as we explore this tension - or opportunity - through a 20th and 21st century lens. From the luminous minimalism of Arvo Pärt to the chant‑shaped modernism of Maurice Duruflé and the fiery neo‑madrigals of Morten Lauridsen, these works together will showcase how modern composers engage with historical traditions to create music that feels excitingly new yet grounded in familiarity.
