Writing, Imagination and Hope

A five-week course with Sarah Frideswide. 22nd September - 20th October 2026. Tuesday evenings, 6.30 p.m. - 8.30 p.m. Booking will close on Friday 18th September 2026 at 12 noon. Venue: Room 2G03, Dalhousie Building, University of Dundee A course exploring links between story, creativity, literature and hope. Why and how writing, story and the imagination create and sustain hope, especially in a world which is increasingly unstable. Lessons include discussions around what hope is, why imagination is essential, and why sharing and creating stories is so powerful. We'll do some collaborative story creation, and some individual writing exercises. We'll look at Lisa Cron's book "Wired for Story" which explains some of the science. We'll examine work by other writers and we'll look at the relational origins of story - the tribal campfire. Tutor: Sarah Frideswide Contemplative writer, societal outlaw. Published poet.
