Supervision…towards, within & beyond super-visionary, relational practices

A supervision workshop hosted by Kieran Vivian-Byrne and Victoria Jones We are delighted to offer this latest workshop on supervision, relevant to all and any of its many forms. We hope you will join us whether you are starting out in your supervision journey as a supervisee, or you have been working in supervisory contexts over many years. We (Victoria and Kieran) continue to explore in our own work as systemic psychotherapists, the nature and value of ‘supervision’ as a form of ‘conversations on edges’. Edges, - because the conversations often challenge our existing worlds towards change. We want these conversations to make better, more just worlds. They should sustain us within all of the worlds in which we must participate – even those with more austere environments. This workshop will be a greenhouse opportunity to ‘actively-with-others’, explore our own experience of our super-visionary conversations and the many forms they may take. We aim to move in favour of the boldest, and most creative ‘Understandings-towards-embodiment’ beyond the workshop in our practice and our lives. Victoria Jones: Victoria is currently employed as an NHS consultant family and systemic psychotherapist in children’s wellbeing services in north Wales. She has over two decades of experience as a senior lecturer in higher education Victoria has taught systemic ideas to a wide range of professionals. She was the systemic curriculum lead for a UK wide social work training organisation. Victoria has published her own ideas and supported others to get published through editorial work. She is currently very excited about starting a book club. Victoria is passionate about equality, justice and attending to power by finding ways to really hear everyone’s voice. Kieran Vivian-Byrne: Kieran has worked for The Family Institute in developing systemic practices since 2004. He offers consultation to organisations and practitioners in health, social care, education and third sector contexts and is about ‘making better worlds.’ Kieran has presented his work at home and abroad and has been involved as a supervisor and consultant in the development of research, writing and practice projects throughout his time at the Institute. He continues collaborations with others in this way. He is excited that the Family Institute is being renewed and re-energised under the Centre for Systemic Studies, and that within this frame, there are opportunities to expand some of the horizons for the development of systemic ideas into ever-more non-pathologising and more just practices, through a wider variety of activities including art and ecology projects.
