COME AND SING EVENSONG. With Ralph Allwood MBE

Sing Evensong for St Andrew's Patronal Festival, directed by Ralph Allwood MBE, composer and Director of Music at St Alphege Greenwich. Join in at St Andrew’s for a special Come and Sing Evensong, led by the distinguished choral director Ralph Allwood MBE DMus. Ralph was Director of Music at Eton College for 26 years and founded the renowned Rodolfus Choral Courses in 1980, inspiring generations of young singers. He has conducted choirs for numerous BBC Radio 3 broadcasts and is widely recognised for his contribution to choral music and musical education. In 2012, he was awarded an MBE for services to choral music, and in 2017 received the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Thomas Cranmer Award for Music and Worship. The setting is St Andrew’s Church, Chippenham’s historic parish church, where Christian worship has been offered since Anglo-Saxon times. The present building has its origins in the twelfth century, with beautiful medieval and Victorian Gothic architecture and centuries of musical and spiritual tradition. Whether you sing regularly in a choir or simply love the beauty of Anglican choral worship, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience Evensong from within the 'choir stalls', discover some of the great music of the Church, and share in a centuries-old tradition of prayer through music. The proposed (subject to change) music list includes: Psalm 126 (chant G M Garrett) Canticles in C (Stanford) The Lord Bless you and Keep you (Rutter) This event is kindly sponsored by the Choral Evensong Trust and will be followed by a drinks reception. Donations towards the printing of music, in the region of £5/singer are invited. All singers are warmly welcome!
