Sri Radhastami

A joyful two-day celebration of Sri Radha and Sri Lalita's appearance days, with kirtan, harikatha, and a delicious vegetarian feast. We're delighted to be hosting a two-day Radhastami and Lalita Saptami festival at Oaksey Village Hall, for the second year in a row, celebrating the appearance days of Srimati Radharani and her best friend, Sri Lalita. Lalita Saptami takes place on Friday 18th September, and Radhastami on the following day, Saturday 19th September. The Event The programme kicks off on Friday 18th evening with kirtan, a spiritual discourse on Sri Lalita Devi, and a free vegetarian meal. Join us in the morning of Saturday 19th for a full day of Radhastami festivities including: • more bhajans and kirtan (traditional Sanskrit, Bengali and Braj Bhasha devotional singing) • harikatha (a lecture on the qualities and importance of Sri Radha) • a joyful and uplifting abhishek ceremony, where attendees will have the opportunity to bathe Radha Krishna deities in milk, honey, yoghurt, sugar and ghee. As usual, a lunch and dinner will served, completely free of charge. The Special Guest We will be joined by a very special guest, Srila Bhakti Swarup Sridhara Maharaj, who will be leading the festivities and speaking on the topic of Sri Radha and Sri Lalita. Srila Sridhara Maharaj is an extremely learned Gaudiya Vaisnava sannyasi monk from Jagannatha Puri, India and a renowned Sanskrit scholar. His exceptional and inspiring Bhakti Yoga discourses are known for their deep dives into the hidden meanings of Gaudiya Vedanta philosophy. Our Sri Radhastami festival will be a beautiful opportunity to learn more about Sri Radha from this truly special soul. The Location Located in the Cotswolds near the Cotswold Water Park, Oaksey is best reached by car, but as it's not far from Kemble and Cirencester, the majority of your journey can be done by public transport.
