Our tours are free to the public, but if you would like to support us then please consider donating to our charity The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF). https://foundation.cwgc.org/donate/ MEETING POINT is at the Chapels on Pennance Road, TR11 4ED (eastern side of Old Cemetery, not the entrance to the New Cemetery). Falmouth became a drifter base in January 1915 and in 1918, a centre for ship repairs. It contains 87 First World War burials, including those of two unidentified firemen from the S.S. "Clan Cumming", attacked by German submarine in the English Channel on 5 November 1917, with the loss of 13 lives. During both World Wars, Falmouth played a significant role as a naval base and there were also many military hospitals in the town. A war graves plot contains 74 of the 111 Second World War burials within Falmouth Cemetery, the rest are scattered. Lying apart at the southernmost tip of the plot are five graves containing the remains of 26 unidentified sailors who died in the bombing of H.M.S. "Registan" on 26 May 1941. A further 4 are the graves of unidentified seamen of the Merchant Navy. The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 1000 metres on paths and grass on uneven ground with some steep slopes. There is wheelchair access. Street parking available on Pennance Road, nearest car park is Swanpool Beach (500 yards south-west). There are no on site facilities or toilets, so please bring water if required. Please come dressed for the weather and in suitable footwear. Well behaved dogs on a lead are allowed in the cemetery. Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
