Rescheduled Helman Tor Day - Tor to Shore Home Educating Family Days

Join Cornwall Wildlife Trust and other local home educating families on a creative day out at Helman Tor Nature Reserve. Join Cornwall Wildlife Trust at 10:30am on Thursday 24th September for a day at Helman Tor Nature Reserve. Create your own Nature Journal and have a go at a pollinator survey. Meet up with other local home educating families and explore the beauty of our Helman Tor complex of reserves. We will be focusing on pollinators and flowers throughout the day with plenty of time for independent exploration as well as taking part in a national citizen science programme. We ask that all children under the age of 18 are accompanied by a legal guardian. What to expect from the day? We will being by creating our own nature journals and playing some games before heading out onto the nature reserve for a picnic (please bring your own packed lunch). After we have eaten, you will be guided through completing your own flower-insect-timed count. Important Information: Toilets are available at Gunwen chapel at the start or the end. The terrain will be uneven and is likely to be muddy in areas. We will be exploring a variety of terrains and areas including steep slopes and wetlands. Wellies are recommended but walking boots/muddy shoes and a change of socks are also acceptable. The reserve is exposed so please wear clothing suitable for the weather. High factor suncream and waterproof coats are always recommended. To reduce the risk of ticks we also recommend wearing lightweight full length trousers and tops. We ask that all children under the age of 18 are accompanied by a legal guardian.
