The Skills Bootcamp in Project Management for Construction has been designed in direct response to employer demand for skilled Construction professionals who can lead complex projects, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and deliver programmes safely, efficiently, sustainably and within budget. Developed in collaboration with Construction employers across Cornwall, this specialist programme is ideal for experienced professionals with the potential to progress, including skilled tradespeople, supervisors and emerging managers looking to develop the technical, operational and project management expertise required to advance into Construction Project Management roles. Introductory Session – 30/09/2026 The Taster Session provides an opportunity to: • Meet the expert Project Management Lecturer who will lead the programme • Take part in activities to gain a better understanding of the course content, practical application and study requirements • Explore how Project Management skills are applied specifically within Construction and the Built Environment • Discover the benefits and support available to you as an adult learner at Truro and Penwith College • Discuss your current role, career ambitions and progression goals with the College team • Identify any additional learning, accessibility or support requirements ahead of enrolment Course Outline Following the Taster Session, the eleven-week Skills Bootcamp in Project Management for Construction will commence on 14th October 2026. The programme has been developed for experienced Construction professionals who want to progress towards Project Management responsibilities, develop their existing management capabilities or gain the specialist knowledge required to manage increasingly complex projects within the Built Environment. Learners will develop practical skills across: • Project initiation and feasibility • Project planning and resource allocation • Cost planning, budgeting and financial control • Procurement and contract administration • Risk identification and management • Stakeholder engagement and communication • Construction compliance and regulation • Site co-ordination and management • Health and Safety • Quality assurance • Sustainability • Application of project management principles and methodologies within the Built Environment Practical application will be central to the programme, enabling participants to relate tools and methodologies to realistic Construction scenarios and their own workplace. Learners will benefit from live project briefs, collaborative activities and opportunities to learn from Construction employers and industry specialists through expert talks and workplace visits. The Skills Bootcamp also incorporates the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management, providing learners with accredited recognition alongside the specialist Construction knowledge and skills developed through the programme. By attending the Skills Bootcamp in Project Management for Construction, delegates will: • Develop the technical and operational skills required to manage Construction projects effectively • Build confidence in planning, coordinating and monitoring projects from initiation through to delivery • Strengthen skills in budgeting, procurement, contracts, risk and resource management • Develop the ability to manage stakeholders, subcontractors and multi-disciplinary teams • Improve understanding of regulatory, Health and Safety, quality and sustainability requirements • Apply project management tools and techniques to realistic Construction scenarios • Learn directly from industry experts and employers • Develop the knowledge and credibility required to progress towards Construction Project Management responsibilities • Gain accredited ILM recognition to support future career progression Project Management is one of the most frequently requested specialist skills within Construction recruitment, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced Construction professionals looking to take the next step in their careers. Level: 3 Location: Tregye Campus, Tregye Road, Carnon Downs, Cornwall, TR3 6JH Cost: Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, there is no charge for eligible individuals looking to retrain or upskill. SME employers will only need to contribute 10% of the course fee (£291.10) when enrolling an employee, while large organisations will be asked to contribute 30% (£873.30).
