Spotting & Strolling at St Andrews Wetland

Spot, stroll, identify and record wildlife together on a relaxed walk. Learn, share knowledge, and enjoy a hot drink and chat. Join us from 16:00 to 18:00 on Monday 21st September at St Andrews Wetland, for the next in our series of Spotting & Strolling wildlife walks across the Tor to Shore catchment. We will meet at the end of the car park, by the pond and the Friends of St Andrews display board. Details of where to find this will be sent out the day before. We'll enjoy a slow, sociable walk, practising wildlife identification together and sharing knowledge as we go. The walk will not be led by experts. Instead, we'll learn from one another, using ID guides and identification tools to help us identify and record the wildlife we find. You're welcome to bring your own binoculars, hand lens, field guides or recording equipment too. There is no set destination, just an opportunity to explore, learn and record wildlife together. This walk will provide opportunities to learn about the work Friends of St Andrews Wetland undertake on the site. Afterwards, we'll stop for a hot drink and a biscuit before heading back to the car park. We'll also chat about citizen science in the local area, how it could develop in future, and how you can get involved. Everyone is welcome, from complete beginners to experienced naturalists. No expertise is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn, share knowledge and support others. Interested individuals are encouraged to join the Tor to Shore Wildlife Recording Facebook page and/or Whatsapp Community, to be part of a wider, friendly community of recorders, and where online identification support will be provided by experts near and far! Accessibility There is limited but free parking available at this site. The route follows uneven natural trails and may be muddy. There are no toilet facilities available. We want everyone to feel welcome at our events.
