Allies of the Sun - "Helios" Filmmaking Workshop

A 2-day punk filmmaking workshop to celebrate the "Helios" by Luke Jerram which will be exhibited in Goole, October 2026. *Please note this is a 2-day event 3-4th October. Please reserve tickets for both dates “Across world mythologies, the sun serves as a universal unifier, representing collective survival, divine community, and cosmic order.” A 2 Day punk-filmmaking project inviting 16-25 girls and LGBTQ+ participants to explore stories of the sun and community from ancient folklore to modern popular culture. Participants will be given the tools and support to create their own film shaped from lived experiences to discuss community and the importance of diversity and inclusion. Day 1: An introduction to filmmaking, a hands-on look at professional kit and a deep-dive into exploring stories around the sun and community. This will serve as a tool to help participants talk about their own experiences, hopes, ambitions and aspirations for their local community. We will discuss what kind of film we would like to make and what message we want to shout to our audience. We will then work with a screen writer to help bring our ideas to life on the page. Day 2: Principal photography will take place on the last day, capturing everything we need and working together to plan a basic edit our film.
