Full description from organizer

We are excited to bring back our Cinéphiles club: a collaboration between the Alliance Française du Yorkshire and York St John University. From historical classics to genre-bending, new films, we hope to provide an environment to watch films and practice French listening. All films will have English subtitles to be accessible for all. We invite you to join us for this screening and enjoy the best of French cinema. We are kicking off our 2026/2027 season with À la belle étoile! À la belle étoile is a film about a young man named Yazid, who discovers a passion for pâtisserie and baking. Despite his upbringing in foster homes, Yazid perseveres with his passion and skills to break into the traditional and insular world of French patisserie. This film is based on the true story of Yazid Ichemrahen, who co-wrote this film. Yazid discovered patisserie at 14 and developed his skills with many different chocolatiers and bakers in France. This film proposes a feast for the senses, along with a heartwarming story of resilience and perseverance in the face of obstacles. The film runtime is 110 minutes. This film is rated PG Events Access & Inclusivity At York St John University we are committed to making our events as welcoming and inclusive for as many people as possible.
