Ghost Dance + The Roman Jugg Band The Crescent, York Saturday 24th April, 7.30pm *This is a standing show* Ghost Dance Formed in 1985, from the ashes of iconic luminaries of the ‘post punk’ and ‘goth’ scenes, Skeletal Family and The Sisters Of Mercy. They had an instant following and spent many weeks, high in the indie charts, with releases on the Karbon Label and touring with many of their contemporaries, The Cult, The Mission, All About Eve, Wonderstuff, Killing Joke, as well as appearing at many incredibly events, such as Reading Rock Festival in 1988. After signing to Chrysalis, for a major album release, with ‘Stop The World’, Ghost Dance appeared on radio sessions for John Peel, Janice Long, Nicky Campbell and made many Radio and TV appearances throughout the UK, Europe, Canada & the America. Sadly, Ghost Dance disbanded after touring Germany with The Ramones in 1989. 2021 saw a new line-up, featuring Anne Marie hurst and going from strength to strength with their Youtube videos topping 100,000 plays and well received singles & live shows, including special guests to Fields Of The Nephilim at the sold out ‘Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival’ at Whitby in 2022 along with shows in Belgium, Sweden and Mexico. 2023 saw Ghost Dance release their long awaited new album ‘The Silent Shout’ to rave reviews, which went straight to No1 in iTunes ‘Goth Rock’ chart and the CD still remains high in the charts and is an Amazon best seller of the genre. 2026 saw the band return to the studio to write and prepare new material as well as to revisit some of their classics for an upcoming release as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I97vpHzDykk The Roman Jugg Band Roman Jugg is the former guitarist and keyboard player with The Damned and a key member of the band’s gothic-era line-up. He wrote and co-wrote and performed on much of the material from Phantasmagoria and Anything, the two albums that defined one of the most commercially successful eras of The Damned. He was also a member of Naz Nomad & The Nightmares and a founding member of The Phantom Chords. The Roman Jugg Band focus mainly on material from The Damned’s gothic era, including tracks from Phantasmagoria and Anything, alongside songs such as “Nasty” and a selection of other classic Damned material. The Roman Jugg Band recently played the Opera House at Rebellion Festival to a great response.
