Every Wednesday, tackle a specific creative challenge and master a new technique. A fast-paced hour designed to sharpen your drawing skills. What to Expect: Every Wednesday morning, you will be handed a specific creative challenge and a new technique to master. This is a fast-paced, structured hour designed to bypass perfectionism and sharpen your actual drawing skills. • No Copycat Exercises: There are no boring step-by-step copies or static fruit bowls here. • The Toolkit Approach: Each week we dive into a brand-new prompt, experimenting with different materials, dynamic ways of seeing, and varied approaches to mark-making. • A Launchpad for Bigger Projects: We aim to be a trusted and active partner in York, submitting work and ideas into city festivals and exhibitions. Whether you are a brand-new attendee or a regular drawer, you will have optional opportunities to participate in exciting, collaborative public projects. • Zero Pressure: We ditch the pressure to produce a perfect picture. Instead, you will build raw confidence, sharpen your observations, and discover your own unique visual style. Class Vibe: Welcoming, structured, and infectiously enthusiastic about drawing. It is an active, creative playground built to give you an energised start to your day and get you sketching with confidence. Time and Venue: Location is inside the St Sampson’s Centre, York. Simply come on through the main entrance to join us in the Annexe. We start bang on 10:00 AM every Wednesday and wrap up at 11:00 AM, leaving you with a fresh, creative start to your day. • Café and Facilities: The centre features a fantastic, low-cost café perfect to grab a coffee, alongside full baby changing facilities. • Accessibility Note: The venue is wheelchair accessible, with level access available via an entrance ramp. Booking: You can book your place in advance right here on Eventbrite, or simply drop in on the morning and pay at the door via cash or card. What to Bring: Please bring a basic sketch pad and drawing pencils. All other specialised materials for the weekly challenges are fully provided. Spare paper and pencils are always available if you happen to forget yours. Concessions: Discounted tickets are available for anyone currently on maternity, paternity, or parental leave, those receiving Universal Credit or low-income benefits, seniors (65+), and full-time students. No proof is required—please select the concession option if it applies to you.
