This is not a conference. This is not a webinar. This is one focused day of learning, built around the skills, tools, and strategies that define the future of journalism on the continent. Edition 1 takes on three of the most urgent conversations in African media: → How AI is changing the newsroom and how to use it responsibly and effectively → How to tell climate stories that move people and drive action → How to build a career and income as a digital media professional in Africa WHAT’S ON THE PROGRAMME Module 1 — AI for the Modern African Journalist Facilitated by an AI & Digital Media Expert You will learn how to use AI as a practical newsroom tool not a replacement, but a force multiplier. From prompt engineering and research to writing, verification, and social media this session covers the tools every journalist should know and the ethics every journalist must understand. Practical exercise: Transform one story into five content formats using AI. Module 2 — Climate Storytelling That Drives Action Facilitated by a Climate Journalist / Climate Communications Expert Climate is not a science beat. It is every beat. This session equips you to find climate angles in any story, report from a solutions perspective, tell human-centred stories, and counter climate misinformation with data, integrity, and impact. Case study: Accra Floods — From Breaking News to Solutions Journalism. Module 3 Building a Sustainable Career in Digital Journalism Facilitated by a Media Entrepreneur This is the business session most journalism programmes never teach. You will learn how to build your personal media brand, create multiple income streams, grow your audience, freelance effectively, and access grants and fellowships so your journalism can sustain itself. Fireside Chat The Future of African Journalism A candid conversation with: • The Barbados High Commissioner • A Senior Journalist • A Young Digital Creator Moderated by the Lead Convener of TN Africa. WHO SHOULD APPLY This masterclass is designed for: • Journalists (print, broadcast, digital) • Student Journalists • Bloggers & Online Publishers • Content Creators • Digital Media Professionals • Communications Officers & PR Practitioners • Civil Society & Development Communicators Admission is selective. Every application is reviewed individually by the TN Africa team. Completing the application does not guarantee a place shortlisted participants will be contacted with next steps. CERTIFICATION Participants who attend all three modules and complete the programme assessment will receive a TN Africa Media Academy Certificate of Completion. Certification is paid for. The fee will be communicated to shortlisted applicants before they are required to confirm their place. Scholarship enquiries can be made during the application process.
