As the romanticization of men is a tricky, delicate topic, we’re kicking things off with a series of pre-exhibition events through which you come to understand how and why the photography series of Eva’s Apples was made. The first of these events is our upcoming literature night, where we’re bringing together voices from a few artists, scholars, and readers to pull apart how we view, mythologize playfully, and even obsess over men. Speakers: Hou Lam Tsui (Visual Artist and Filmmaker) on her video essay work titled Trichiasis Fiona Yuk-wa Law (Cultural Studies Scholar) on male and female gaze in film studies Eva Brank (artist behind Eva's Apples) on what the apples series is and the essay work behind it + readings of excerpts of Hong Kong and world literature and a romanticization game Admission is free; we thank Eaton for its support and sponsorship, and refreshments will be available during the break.
