About this event

Branwen Kavanagh and Wyn Oran perform a tour in Ireland focusing on nature and the human condition.

Full description from organizer

Two acts will be crossing the Island of Ireland on a tour giving voice to the unseen and unheard aspects of nature and the human condition Singing the Unseen Tour Clare artist and songmaker Branwen Kavanagh will be singing songs which give voice to the voiceless parts of nature and our landscape, expressed through conversational folklore, unusual soundscapes and instruments, crankies, surreal humour and almost forgotten stories. Wyn Oran, an up and coming Irish/Scottish folk duo based in Berlin, whose mysterious, otherworldly songs bring the formless and nameless aspects of the human experience through spectrums of darkness and light, will be touring their brand new album for the first time. An exciting evening of music awaits, as the two acts will perform two sets as well as a short set of acapella songs together. Doors - 7.30pm Show - 8pm Branwen Kavanagh Inspired by folklore, dada and landscape, Branwen Kavanagh is a singer, musician, performance artist and puppeteer from Co.Clare. Infused with absurd humour, Branwen’s art and music are usually fashioned into surreal and potent experiences which cross the threshold into bizarre and magical territory. An award-nominated artist, they have performed their original compositions on Other Voices, The National Concert Hall, Glastonbury, RTE and BBC. They have released four studio albums since 2019, have toured internationally and have maintained an underground cult following across all of their work. Branwen is the songwriter behind well known projects including Twin Headed Wolf, Rufous Nightjar and their solo work, Branwen. Their live performances weave together crankies, masks, storytelling, puppetry and unusual objects employed as instruments, leaving a warm otherworldly impression on their audiences. They will be touring brand new songs that take inspiration from decentralising the human experience in favour of reflecting the wider cycles of nature and the creatures that inhabit our landscape. Or as they like to call it: Friendly propaganda for the non-human world. Wyn Oran Wyn Oran is a project presented by two pillars of the folk and traditional scene in Berlin. Calum Hughes; a singer/songwriter and bouzouki player and Sorcha Thompson; a violinist and singer. Their music draws on the gothic, dream-like side of folk and has been described as mysterious, ritualistic and sometimes confronting. Their haunting vocals create a space to look inwards and reflect on the light as well as the dark.
