Culture Night: Revisiting 'The Irish Bedside Book’

A revisit of Mercier Press’s ‘The Irish Bedside Book’ (celebrating it’s 35th anniversary this year), an anthology edited by John M. Feehan. Doors 6:45pm, Glassesd Filled and Seats Taken, Talk at 7pm A revisit of Mercier Press’s ‘The Irish Bedside Book’ (celebrating it’s 35th anniversary this year), an anthology edited by John M. Feehan, with the intent for readers to let their minds wander in lazy reflection through song, story, poem, speech and anecdote with a delightful blend of inspiration, consolation and laughter. With extracts from writers such as John B. Keane, Daniel Corkery, Eamon Kelly and classic writings such as The Tailor & Ansty, The Midnight Court, An Poc Ar Buile… The evening will start with a brief history and context of the book itself, then readings from it and then a conversation about what could be added to it over the last 35 years… Please note, while not unsuitable for children, we have limited space but would prefer leaving that space for more engaged people.
