Full description from organizer

The James Joyce Centre and The Write Stuff are delighted to present our final collaboration with Dublin by Dusk Thursday, 29 October at 7pm. In partnership with the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, Fáilte Ireland, Dublin City Council, and Dublin Town. The Write Stuff are gatherings in collaborative storytelling, poetry & music. Curated & hosted by Dublin writer Steve O'Toole. At each gathering, storytellers, and poets, are joined by showcase musicians, working to a pre-agreed theme. Thus, delivering a continuous, collaborative flow of original work. This is a very limited ticketed event, and expected to book out quickly, as we will be joined by: Colm Gavin Beo Records president Tim Jarvis describes Dublin singer/songwriter Colm as “one of the most significant songwriters of his generation.” Colm has toured extensively across Europe and the United States with his releases reaching the top of Contemporary Charts in over 30 Countries including Ireland, England, Italy, Australia, Denmark & Japan. Dermott Hayes Dermott is an author, poet, journalist and filmmaker. Lectured in NCAD, 1977/79, BA in History & Politics. Tutored in UCD Politics. Author of postgraduate EU study on Parliamentary Committee Systems. His work has been published in Press Group, Irish Times, Cork Examiner, Evening Echo, Daily Mirror, The Sun, Daily Mail, Rolling Stone, Q Magazine, Select, MOJO, and Evening Herald. The Vagabond Queen Dragging spoken word straight out of its skin, The Vagabond Queen is the sonic embodiment of a one woman revolt - collapsing her performance art into a seductive assault to the senses. An unpredictable ritual rooted in the presence of transformation. Her immersive expression is a living force: brutal in its beauty, unflinching, intimate and shaped by the raw truth of lived experience that refuses to remain silent. Her work is dedicated to the voiceless, the unheard and the issue of the soul tarnished in a world obsessed with deception. Steve O’Toole A street stalking creative, poet, storyteller, artist, and the creative force behind The Write Stuff. Not one to sit on the fence, Steve firmly wears both his heart & mind on his sleeve, delivering forceful versed commentary by the page full. Originally performing in the mid 90’s as support to Irish writer ‘Pat Ingoldsby’. It was early 2023, when Steve returned after a far too long hiatus. Since then, he has gone on to read & perform at The International Literary Festival, The Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival, The Bram Stoker Festival, Culture Nights, Craicly Stories, and curate & host The Write Stuff gatherings at The James Joyce Centre, Chapters Bookstore, and other city venues. Steve will be launching his debut anthology ‘Don’t Judge My Book By My Cover’ in November 2026.
