Saffron Kingdom – Film Screening & Conversation on Kashmir

Join us for an evening, reflection and conversation and experience a story that brings Kashmir & its diaspora to the screen. Saffron Kingdom – Film Screening & Conversation on Kashmir Kashmir Peace and Solidarity Council Ireland (KPSC Ireland) invites you to a special screening of Saffron Kingdom, an independent movie produced and directed by Arfat Sheikh, under Daffodil Studios. Saffron Kingdom explores the experiences of the Kashmiri diaspora and the complex political and human dimensions of Kashmir. Through storytelling and cinema, the film offers a Kashmiri-American perspective and seeks to challenge established narratives about Kashmir often portrayed in mainstream popular cinema. Described as the first Kashmiri-American film, Saffron Kingdom brings questions of identity, displacement, belonging, memory and political conflict to the screen, providing audiences with an opportunity to engage with Kashmir through a distinctly diasporic perspective. Saffron Kingdom completed its screenings in different parts of the world. About the Event This special screening is being organised by Kashmir Peace and Solidarity Council Ireland (KPSC Ireland) as part of its commitment to promoting awareness, dialogue, human rights, peace and solidarity. The screening will provide an opportunity for members of the Irish public, the Kashmiri and wider South Asian diaspora, human-rights advocates, academics, students and community organisations to come together and engage with the experiences and perspectives presented through the film. The screening will be followed by an opportunity for conversation and reflection on the themes raised by the film, including identity, diaspora, human rights and Kashmir. Everyone is welcome. Join us for an evening of film, reflection and conversation and experience a story that brings Kashmir and its diaspora to the screen from a different perspective.
