Join Fable Tours for a special food-filled journey through Conamara - meet the producers, enjoy local food and hear the stories Saturday 24th October 2026. Discover the flavours, stories and landscapes of Conamara on a unique food and heritage experience that showcases the region's rich culinary traditions and deep connection to the land and sea. Our day will include a wander through a lively local food fair to meet some of the people who make Connemara’s food scene so special. Browse stalls filled with local foods, chat with producers and, of course, enjoy a few tastings along the way. It’s a chance to discover the flavours of the region while meeting the people behind the food. We will stop beside the shore to discover the remarkable world of seaweed. Learn about some of the seaweeds found along this coastline, how they have been gathered and used in Irish food, and why they are such an important part of our coastal food heritage. There’ll be a chance to taste a selection of seaweeds and seaweed treats and maybe get a recipe. Our stop at Saille, Spiddal’s newest restaurant, will feature a delicious taste of the Atlantic as we enjoy a seafood treat featuring fresh local flavours, with the sea and the landscape of Connemara providing the perfect backdrop. It’s a chance to relax, savour the food and experience a new addition to the region’s growing food scene. Lunch is in Pota,a bilingual Café where we will enjoy a delicious seasonal selection of artisan products sourced from Connemara and the surrounding region. We'll also learn about the cafe's sustainable ethos. Our journey continues to An Garrraí Glas, a small organic farm dedicated to growing fresh, seasonal vegetables using sustainable methods. Here you'll meet the grower, learn about his approach to regenerative food production, and see first-hand how quality ingredients begin with healthy soil and a love of the land. Also in Spiddal we will visit Builín Blasta, where you'll enjoy a tasting of award winning artisan condiments, preserves and sauces inspired by the flavours of the west of Ireland. Discover how quality ingredients are transformed into products that have earned a loyal following throughout the country and beyond. To round off the experience, relax with a tasting of locally distilled Micil poitin/gin – a chance to raise a glass to Conamara, its food, its people and its stories. And there’s a little taste of Conamara to take home! You will receive a goodie bag of foodie treats, giving you a few extra tastes of the local producers and flavours we’ve discovered along the way. More than a food tour, it is an opportunity to connect with the people, traditions and natural environment that shape one of Ireland's most beautiful and distinctive regions. From seaweed-covered shores to flourishing vegetable gardens, artisan producers to local hospitality, this is Connemara through its flavours, stories and sense of place.
