Working Writers: Autumn Edition

Galway's quarterly reading series returns on October 30. Come hear from 3 of the city's most exciting active writers working across genres. Just in time for Hallowe'en, the Working Writers autumn lineup features stories, essays, and poems in progress from Mars Duignan, Ciara Broderick, and more. And new for the Autumn Edition, we're thrilled to incorporate a donation to the Activist Solidarity Fund (https://chuffed.org/project/134013-activist-solidarity-fund). The Fund backs a team of experienced Irish activists dedicated to social justice and Ireland's neutrality. The team supports and is supported by many grassroots solidarity groups organising across the country for efforts including: the Galway Palestine Solidarity Campaign, ShannonWatch, People of Clare Against Genocide, Action For Palestine Ireland and Dublin For Gaza . All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Fund. As ever, each of the three readings will be brief, ten minutes tops. We'll break for a drink, the loo, and so that you, the audience, can jot down a few questions you might have for the writers about their process or piece. Note: This is not a workshop; we're here in the spirit of artistic dialogue not feedback : ) We'll talk creative lives, navigating work and creative obligations, and the realities of dedication. The second half of the program will be a light panel discussion between the writers. It will be moderated and include your brilliant questions. Remember: The ethos of Working Writers is different to other literary events and festival panels. No one is here to promote publications and deals. Rather, we're gathering to re-centre on craft, celebrate the mysterious feeling that compels us to the desk, commiserate about the challenges of a solitary practice, and get offline as we do so.
