During Science Week at St Canice’s Cathedral on 14 November 2026, visual and ceramic artist Mary Conroy leads a hands-on workshop where participants learn medieval tile history and create their own tile under her guidance.

Science Week at St Canice’s Cathedral 2026 Clay in the Cathedral - the Science of Medieval Mud 14th November 11.30am to 1.00pm 8 – 12 years Science Week at St Canice’s Cathedral 2026 Clay in the Cathedral - the Science of Medieval Mud 14th November 11.30am to 1.00pm 8 – 12 years old Free event, booking required Join visual and ceramic artist Mary Conroy for this year’s Science Week event at St. Canice’s Cathedral, on Saturday 14th November 2026. In this hands-on workshop the group will discover the history of the medieval tiles, and how they were designed and made. Participants will work under Mary’s guidance to design, create and make their own tile, in this wonderfully messy and tactile session. Learn the science behind tile making during medieval times, and come away with your own unique piece. This event is kindly funded and supported by @calmaststemhub @setuireland @researchireland
