Memory is now the bottleneck — scarce, bandwidth-starved, stranded in the wrong server, and since January, twice the price. This session covers what CXL actually is and does: its protocols and device types, what each generation added from memory pooling to sharing to CXL 4.0, the real bandwidth and latency numbers, and which vendors have silicon you can order today. Followed by a Talk on "Composable Memory with CXL: From Silicon to Software (Software)" o Speaker: Sriram Popuri, NetApp India Pvt Ltd Abstract: To Linux, CXL memory is just another NUMA node — which is why most software already runs on it unchanged. Getting the memory recognised and tiered is a solved problem. Getting an orchestrator to hand it to a workload is not. This session walks the stack from kernel to orchestration, then turns to what has actually been deployed: Meta's CXL fleet across millions of servers, what the rest of the industry has really shipped, CXL as a cache tier for AI inference, and five storage ideas nobody has built yet.
