The Top Brass Peony Workshop A two-day paper-flower experience at Hönnunarsafn Íslands Join artist Catherine Oxley for an intimate, hands-on workshop at the Museum of Design and Applied Arts (Hönnunarsafn Íslands) in Garðabær, where we will create a breathtaking, Top Brass peony in paper. Dates Thursday November 5 & Friday, November 6 Time 2:00–5:00 pm each day Location Hönnunarsafn Íslands, Garðabær Garðatorg 1, 210 Garðabær Level Absolutely no experience necessary What you’ll create Over two relaxed afternoon sessions, you will design and hand-build your own large-scale Top Brass peony, from the first petal to the final sculptural centre. You’ll learn: • How to shape, texture, and form realistic peony petals • Techniques for building the signature “bomb” centre of the Top Brass • Colour blending to achieve its ivory, blush, pink, and golden-yellow palette • Assembly, layering, and finishing for a full, lifelike bloom • How to finish your flower for display at home, as a gift, or as the beginning of a larger botanical installation • You’ll leave with a finished statement piece—and the skills to keep creating. Designed for beginners This workshop is welcoming, supportive, and completely beginner-friendly. No previous experience with paper flowers, crafting, or art is needed. I’ll guide you through every stage with clear demonstrations, personal support, and plenty of time to experiment. Come alone, bring a friend, or treat someone who loves flowers, design, or creative experiences. All materials are provided; you only need to bring your curiosity. Spaces are limited to keep the experience personal and hands-on. NOTE: All materials are provided but we ask you to please bring a sharp pair of scissors to the workshop.
