Oosties Run Or Ride

Get ready for a fun, low-key community event celebrating everything we love about Amsterdam Oost. This is not an official race. There are no chip times, no start gun nerves, and no pressure. Just a great excuse to get outside, explore the neighbourhood, move together, and raise money for a good cause. Hosted by City Alps Personal Training & Cycling Studio (based in Oostpoort Shopping Center), the Oosties Race kicks off at the legendary Poesiat en Kater Brewery and takes you on an epic route through some of the best green spots in the area. All race proceeds will go directly to Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Amsterdam, a fund that covers the cost of sports for kids in Amsterdam whose families can't afford it. Because no child in Amsterdam Oost should have to sit on the sidelines. We believe movement starts young. By moving our own bodies, we inspire the next generation to move theirs ... and together, we make sure every kid gets that chance. Choose your challenge: 10 km Run 21 km Run (Half Marathon) 60 km Cycle Ride Both run routes are lightly marked with ribbon and spray paint to give you a nudge in the right direction, but we still strongly recommend loading the GPX route onto your watch or phone and using that as your main guide. The 60km cycle is fully self-navigated, so come prepared with the GPX loaded and your explorer hat on. In true Oost spirit, half the fun is in the journey. There will be a water/sugar point and photo opportunity just after the Nesciobrug 📸 but beyond that, especially for the 21km and 60km, please come fully prepared with your own nutrition and hydration as this is an adventure, not a catered race. Whether you're running the 10km, tackling the 21km, or pushing through the 60km cycle, this event is all about exploration: reading the route, trusting your instincts, and discovering just how much is tucked away in our own Oost backyard. The 10km and 21km run route will be lightly marked with ribbon and spray paint to keep you on track, but the 60km cycle route is fully self-navigated so come prepared. Load the GPX file onto your watch, use the Komoot link, or upload to Strava and let the app on your phone guide you turn by turn. However you navigate, the journey is half the fun. GPX routes are sent to those who enter. Come ready to explore. 10km Run This is your chance to explore +- 10km of hidden trails, waterways, and green corners of Amsterdam Oost. Kick off is at 10:00 from De Poesiat en Kater. We'll gather for a route briefing before setting off together with an easy jog to our official starting point at the Ooster Ringdijk along the Ringvaart canal (canal on your left), just a few hundred meters away. We're taking this small detour to skip some complicated road works and traffic lights, so we hit the trails fresh, safe and without the fuss. From there, the adventure begins. The 10km route kicks off through the east side of Flevopark before opening up along the expansive Amsterdam Rijnkanaal. Breathe it all in, and keep your eyes peeled for cargo ships slowly making their way through the water. Then comes the highlight of the route ... the legendary Nesciobrug. Flat city runners, this is your moment. Oost locals will tell you with a straight face that this bridge is their mountain, their hill training. Enjoy the climb. 🏔️ From there you'll drop into Diemerpark - a wide, green escape that feels a world away from the city buzz. Bonus points if you spot one of the resident bunnies darting across your path (they're fast, but so are you). Then it's back on course with Steigerijland sitting pretty on your right and the boat clubs lined up on your left - a proper Amsterdam postcard moment. Once you hit Camping Zeeburg Amsterdam, there's one more bridge to tackle, stairs and all, before looping back through the west side of Flevopark and back onto the Ringvaart canal (canal on your left) to finish the route just opposite the canal to where you first started. 21km Run This is your chance to explore 21km of hidden trails, waterways, and green corners of Amsterdam Oost - and beyond.
