Archiving Archiving: Scoping, Europe publication launch

Join us for the Europe launch of Archiving Archiving: Scoping at KIOSK Rotterdam, with a talk and Q&A with astra* co-founder Vivien Chan. Pre-order a physical copy of the publication (collection only) on our website or can be purchased at the launch. What does it mean to create a design archive in Asia? Who are design archives even for, and what can they do? Uncertain social, political, and economic conditions have meant that the act of archiving itself has become central to discussions of decolonisation, activism, and social justice, with communities taking direct control over their own narratives through bottom up archival practices. Edited by astra*, Archiving Archiving: Scoping is an experimental publication that collates the experiences of eight grassroots design archives across different regions in Asia to reveal perspectives, knowledges, challenges, and agendas that underpin their work. Edited by astra* Book design by Fibi Kung Published in 2026 Archiving Archiving: Scoping was funded by the Design Trust Hong Kong Seed Grant and the Design History Society Decolonising Design History Grant.
