Sudan, Beyond The Page

How do you get to know a country through its literature? What can stories tell us about history, identity and home? On Saturday 28 November, Rotterdam Central Library presents Sudan, Beyond the Page, an afternoon exploring Sudan through literature, stories and poetry, with writers, speakers and poets. The programme opens with a book discussion of A Mouth Full of Salt by Reem Gaafar, in collaboration with Beyond Books The Book Club. Have you read the book? Join the conversation and share your thoughts and perspectives. You are also welcome to take part in the discussion if you haven't read the book. This is followed by a lecture by Ahmad Al Malik on Sudan and Sudanese literature. The afternoon concludes with a spoken word performance by Samira Warsame. Het programma begint met een boekbespreking van Een Mondvol Zout van Reem Gaafar, in samenwerking met Beyond Books The Book Club. Heb je het boek gelezen? Dan is er ruimte om gedachten en perspectieven uit te wisselen. Ook zonder het boek gelezen te hebben ben je van harte welkom om aan te sluiten bij het gesprek. Vervolgens verzorgt Ahmad Al Malik een lezing over Soedan en de Soedanese literatuur. De middag wordt afgesloten met een spoken word-optreden van Samira Warsame.
