From Scratch Retreat 🌱 A weekend away for ambitious women building businesses and women getting ready to start. Starting a business takes courage. It can also be lonely, overwhelming, and full of moments when you wonder if you're doing the right thing. Whether you're turning an idea into your first business, growing your existing venture, freelancing, or figuring out what to build next, you don't have to do it alone. From Scratch is a growing community of 200+ women entrepreneurs, founders and future founders across Aotearoa New Zealand. We created this community because we believe building something of your own is easier, and a whole lot more fun, when you have the right women around you. This November, we're bringing the crew together for a weekend to step away from the everyday, reconnect with ourselves and meet other ambitious women who understand the journey. Connect: Meet women who share your ambition, challenges and excitement about building something of their own. Recharge: Slow down, spend time in nature and take a break from the constant demands of work and life. Just a welcoming space to be yourself, connect and recharge. ​Saturday 28 November ​Arrive & Opening Circle Settle in, meet the group and begin the day together. ​Movement Get outside, move our bodies and ease into the day. ​Long Lunch We’ll prepare lunch together, enjoy good food and conversation, and take our time connecting with one another. ​Art & Creative Session A chance to get out of our heads and into our hands. No artistic experience required just come ready to play and experiment. ​Long Dinner Let’s cook and share a delicious dinner together, lovely conversation and plenty of time to connect as we ease into the evening. ​A Space to Connect An open and lightly facilitated space to slow down, share, reflect and have the kinds of conversations we don't always make time for. Bring a question, a challenge, something you're navigating or simply come and listen. We'll see where the conversation takes us. ​Campfire Wind down around the fire with drinks, stories, laughter and the kind of conversations that happen when there's nowhere else you need to be. ​Stay overnight or head home ​The overnight is completely optional. You’re welcome to head home after the evening, or stay and make a full retreat of it. ​If you’d like to stay, please bring your own sleeping bag and mattress/camping mat. There will be space to sleep at the house, but this will be a cosy, informal communal setup rather than hotel-style accommodation. ​Whether you stay overnight or head home the overnight is simply an option for those who'd like to stay a little longer and join us for brunch the next morning. ​Sunday 29 November ​Slow Brunch & Farewell Wake up slowly, grab a coffee, share one last meal together and head home feeling a little more rested and connected. ​Brunch is optional for those staying overnight. 💛 Who is this for? This retreat is for ambitious women who are building, or preparing to build, something of their own. You might be: • An aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you've been thinking about for months or even years. • An early-stage founder finding your feet and figuring out your next steps. • A business owner, freelancer or solopreneur navigating the ups and downs of building independently. • A woman ready to leave the corporate world and explore a different path. You don't need to be a member of From Scratch or have a registered business. You just need to be excited about creating something of your own and connecting with women on a similar journey. 🌱 Meet your hosts A-Chau Le and Katharina Chiu are the co-founders of From Scratch. After moving from California to Auckland and navigating new beginnings of their own, they connected over a shared experience: starting something new is exciting, but it can feel isolating without the right people around you. A-Chau spent eight years at Google, working across global business development and advertising partnerships. She has also been involved with Stanford Graduate School of Business and founder communities. Katharina brings experience from companies including Strava, Meta and Celo, alongside a passion for storytelling, community building and bringing people together. Together, they started From Scratch with a few coffee chats and a simple belief: women building businesses deserve a community that supports them through the messy middle, not just celebrates the wins. That idea has grown into a community of 200+ women. This retreat is an extension of that mission, creating the kind of space where you can meet your people, feel understood and remember why you started in the first place. 📍 The details When: Saturday 28 to Sunday 29 November Where: Hunua, around 45 minutes from Auckland What's included: Time in nature, movement, creative activities, shared meals and meaningful conversations around the table and campfire.
