Hands On Ecology series: Puna & Source Papa ki Awataha - 13 Nov 2026

Join us in learning te ao Māori approach to restoration! Hands On Ecology workshop series is designed for community restoration groups and anyone keen to learn about restoration ecology through a te ao Māori lens. A 3-hour session offers practical skills for restoring private and public spaces, and may include up to 2 hours of walking—please dress appropriately and bring water/snacks. This session covers: • Mana Whenua led regenerative practice • Puna - finding the source significance of Puna, Waiora, Wai Māori and how to cause and prevent Waimate • Direct seeding leaf litter • Riparian habitats • Daylighting streams - learnings to date • Water testing - tohu and why we do it • Stream ecology - riparian habitats Registration is essential as participant numbers are limited for health and safety reasons.
