Kotahi Rau Manawa, One Hundred Hearts: An Evening for Pacific Hearts

100 hearts. One evening. Beating for the Pacific. Take a seat. Light up a heart. One seat is one heart: NZ$200, plus booking fee. 100 seats only. In Suva, a charity heart hospital treats children and adults from across the Pacific at no cost to them. The ability to pay is never a barrier. The evening Kotahi Rau Manawa, One Hundred Hearts, is an evening in Auckland that brings together business, sport and health for Pacific hearts. Every procedure has a real cost The hospital never charges its patients, and never will. Every procedure still has a real cost. Each one uses catheters, guidewires, contrast dye and medicines, and many patients also need balloons, stents or a mesh device to close a hole in the heart. As a charity hospital, it pays full price for all of these. Here in Aotearoa, the same care is publicly funded. Money raised at the evening is used the same way as koha given through our online fundraising: for the heart hospital in Suva, after the costs of the evening.
