Kurinuki Footed Bowl Pottery Workshop

Discover the slow, intuitive Japanese art of Kurinuki and carve your own unique footed bowl from a solid block of clay Experience the Japanese art of Kurinuki. Starting with a solid block of raw clay, you will carve away the interior and shape the exterior to create a footed bowl or matcha cup. Kurinuki is an intuitive and contemplative process. Rather than striving for perfection, you’ll be encouraged to let the clay guide your decisions, embracing the subtle irregularities and textures that give each piece its own character. With class numbers intentionally kept small, you’ll enjoy plenty of individual guidance and support throughout the workshop, allowing you to work at your own pace while developing confidence in the process. After the workshop, your piece will be carefully dried, bisque fired, professionally glazed, and glaze fired. It will be ready for collection approximately 6–8 weeks after the workshop.
